Interesting, but not perfect.

An interesting read, but I would have liked more in-depth coverage of some of the specialist techniques used by airline modellers. It's one thing to (paraphrasing here) write "...I used primer, sanded it down, then used Halfords Appliance White..." it is another to describe AND ILLUSTRATE those techniques in detail, which is what I was really after from this book. Still, I do like the idea of placing the builds in chronological/historical order, and reading about the author's personal connections to some of the subjects. Overall, worth the money.

An excellent book on the much neglected subject of scale modelling of airliners !

Mark Stanton, himself a commercial airline pilot with an obvious love for the subject, did an excellent job on a much neglected scale modelling subject. In fact, it is only the third book dedicated to airliner modelling I have seen. The author covers the history and evolution of commercial aviation through models in a roughly chronological fashion and along the way he teaches a variety of techniques using representative kits of a given type. The color photographs were very helpful to me and his recommendation of automotive spray paint in cans for the gloss white used on most commercial aircraft was a new technique to me and a very good one at that. Being based in the UK, he refers to a British chain of auto supply stores as source, but I would imagine that equivalent spray paint can be bought at the usual automotive supply chain stores here in the US. The book also introduced me to a number of suppliers of kits, decals and accessories geared towards commercial aircraft modelling I did not know before. He even tackles some vacuum-formed kits and makes them look a lot less scary and the results are great.

The photos of completed models by the author and some fellow model builders are inspirational and brought back many fond personal memories of the "Golden Age" of plane spotting at the local airport, before security considerations turned most of them into fortresses with limited view access or none and when there was an astonishing variety of aircraft types, ranging from piston engined DC-4s, to Turboprop Vickers Viscounts to classic 1960's jets.

All in all it is an outstanding piece of work which will guide the beginner and offer much to the experienced modeller as well. It now occupies a place of honor in my extensive scale modelling library.

Eagle eye detail on commercial passenger aircraft modelling

Excellent for the novice and experienced modeller alike. I have always enjoyed modelling civilian aircraft, firstly as a scholar, and now, decades later, as a retiree with more time on my hands. The detailed photos, just what the civil/commercial aircraft modeller needs. Brief historical anecdotes on the aircraft examples being modelled. Good tips for improvisation as regards the finer details for structure and conversions for both vintage and modern airliners. A few editing errors in the text, but these can be overlooked, given the amount of work and scope of the civil aviation era covered. Highly recommended!

Profound, Eloquent, and Extremely Accessible

It is seldom that most readers come across a spirituality book that varies from topics such as Astral Projection to environmentalism that is so well-thought-out and written while actually providing concrete answers. The book is a fascinating read and provides insight into a range of topics both spiritual and practical. Initially, I was most interested in the subject matter relating to astral projection and reincarnation, but quickly realized the great wisdom throughout the entire book revolving around the overarching theme of love, tolerance, and personal betterment. I'd like to think that I have improved myself as a person by doing the mental exercises to become a more mindful and tolerant individual. Even if your personal beliefs don't align with that of this book, it still is an essential piece of reading to understand the universe and life around us in a way that can be personally interpreted to make sense of one's ideology. Megan Elliot is a very promising young author and I look forward to reading her future books.

Both my husband and I were curious about this book. It came recommended by a spiritual friend of ours as a great little book packed with huge ideas. I was skeptical as I rely on the Bible's teachings to verify or discount my own thoughts and feelings about spiritual things.

My guess is this book is written by someone who is more familiar with Buddhissm and general spiritual teachings than Christianity and so there is less Biblical language and this may lose some Christians when reading what is written here. I hope not though.

As a Christian, I sometimes have a hard time setting aside superstition and fear to look more closely at other spiritual teachings.

In this book though, I see the love of Jesus' teachings in Albert's words...and wonder sometimes too - if he isn't the Holy Spirit calling himself by another name...but this is the "lens" I look through...

Some things I love from this book: "When love becomes the number one goal in your life, the universe will respond to you...."

"What you need to do above all else is know yourself. Once you have done that, you must love yourself...once you know others, you must love them..."

In the chapter titled Astral Protection (Chapter 5), Albert states:

"...you have learned enough from cultural ideas and religious beliefs to get an idea of what (evil) is and how it is created...most of you misunderstand how to go about nullifying evil. You believe that it is something to be fought against...literally...this is precisely the wrong way to go about it...seek to understand why the negativity is there an try to heal it in a way that is safe for everyone."

Amen Albert.

And there here are so many more wonderful spiritual truths stated though out this book-which is packed with such a diverse expanse of information that is only touched upon. One such is: "Try to be at peace and take your life as it comes. Don't take direction from anything other than your own heart."

There are many parts of this book that perhaps reflect Ms. Elliott's specific interests - an understandable thing since she is the one doing the channeling, she would have asked "Albert" about many things she is specifically interested in. Albert tries to explain some very deep and profound universal truths in and among the various chapters that made all of it worth reading.

Sometimes, Albert's explanations of certain things just blew my mind (in a good way). Particularly in Chapter 9 - Exploring the Infinite

Here Albert launches into the territory the Bible hints at when it tells us that God's ways and his thoughts are far higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). Isaiah states that God's "understanding no one can fathom" (Isaiah 40:28). Paul said, "Oh the depths of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments and his paths beyond tracing out!" (Romans 11:33). Job said , "Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know" (Job 42:3; see also Psalm 139:6).

Albert's words are: "God's story is complicated. God thinks, God wonders. God is in the dark too. There is nothing that God doesn't know, and yet It can never know Itself completely."

All in all, there was many things here that are beyond my spiritual path in understanding and many things here that are not in the scope of what interests me specifically, BUT. Many many things that made this a very worthwhile read and will remain in my mind to contemplate and pray about.

Most of all, I love that this Albert only just touched on so many things. I felt that I could just sit down and talk with him for the next several months and still end up wanting to know more.

Despite the price - I have enjoyed using Aplia thus far. You can get help with your homework, and based on the course you're taking you are given more than one chance to get the question right. There is an ebook included with the access code as well. It has made taking another statistics course simpler and more tolerable!

The access code came in its original packaging and worked on Aplia. I needed the access code for statistics homework but I didn't want to buy the physical textbook, so this was a good purchase! Cheaper than getting an access code on the Aplia website.

Needed it for my statistics class that was taught online. The access code worked perfectly, no issues with registering. Just sucks that teachers are using programs like this as the price is really expensive. The good thing is that the code includes a virtual copy of the textbook, so I didn't have to buy the textbook.
